I would wait until they do another u/s. They usually do not like diagnosing twins before 10 weeks of pregnancy because of losing one twin, vanishing twin syndrome. I found out when I was 8 weeks pregnant. They told me that my chances of miscarrying were higher than with a singleton pregnancy and sometimes one twin does disappear. But wait a couple of weeks for a clearer u/s picture. I have put on a bit of weight since I have gotten pregnant. That is not always a sure sign of twins either. The best is u/s. Good luck and congrats. If it is twins, enjoy this pregnancy because it is a complete blessing and miracle. it does not happen to everyone.

Well, there are two possibilities. The hospital ultrasound might not have been at the right angle to see the other sac. Or, the twin could have been absorbed back into your body. When I was pregnant with twins, the doctor told me that it is very common to initially be pregnant with twins but if there is any developmental problems with the embryo that the body sometimes rejects it. My doctor told me they call it the "vanishing twin" maybe you should research it on the internet. There's probably a lot of info about it. Good luck with your pregnancy. I really hope everything turns out ok!

If you got two different results from two different doctors then the only thing to do is to wait a few more weeks and schedule another ultrasound when it might be easier to determine whether there are multiple babies.
Although you can have more severe morning sickness with twins, it's not a rule. Millions of women get terribly sick with only one baby, and many others have twins but not very bad morning sickness.
Maybe you could get another scan around 10 weeks?

wow how nerve racking to get 2 different results like that! Now if your Dr HEARD two heartbeats then the u/s only showed one then I'd say it's just one, but since your dr actually Saw 2 sacs I'd say there must be 2. Did he tell you what both heartrates were? I would definitely be asking for another u/s to clear up the confusion.

I would think that if there is 2 sacs, then it is twins. I have heard many times that the second, third, etc, baby can be in an awkward spot and not been able to be seen every time.

You could be having twins. It isn't unheard of to hear the heartbeats without seeing both babies. One could be hiding. When you're a little further along it will be a lot easier for them to figure out exactly what is going on. If you're doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't. Worry/stress won't help your baby anyway. Try to stay positive.

Congratulations! It sounds like you're having twins!
Depending on how the babies are sitting in your uterus, one could be hiding behind the other. That's not an uncommon occurence.
As the babies get bigger and start to develop more, it will be easier to see them both.
Congratulations again, and stress less.

this is normal, based on how the baby was sitting in your tummy, now if the doctor heard two hearbeats going at diffrent rates, then it can be twins....good luck
