For a while, u will have the ol' "children ring" on the tree. This means that no ornaments can be placed within reach of ur children on the tree. My parents say it works well. When their isn't shiny stuff on it, the kids r less interested.

Another good idea is next year get a little tree, like a little bush in a pot, and place it on the mantle with a few ornaments on. this keeps a fully decorated tree that looks very cute in ur living room.

Just dont get a tree. If your children keep on about one, just tell them that until they can leave it alone..."No tree comes into this house" When they see other children with trees in their homes they will soon learn. You really should have more control over you children. Make "NO" mean "NO" If you dont get this right now just think what trouble they can get into when they get older. Your making a rod for your own back. Get a grip!

I'm sorry I agree with the previous comments too..
Discipline them! When I was very young I never pulled the tree down as I was taught this was not the thing to do.. anyway.. they'll soon learn if they do pull the tree down on top of themselves.. Same as I did when a wardrobe fell on me.. (luckily I was just trapped inside!)

Want I do is put yarn around the tree and hammer a nail in the wall then tie the yarn around the nail and hammer the nail in. That want I do to make sure my tree stay up without falling, My five year old and three old don't touch the tree but I have that way so I know it won't fall and it works..

I have the same problem with my tree and my one year old daughter. I would recommend that you put the tree on a table if it's not too big, or put a play pen around it, but what i just did is decorated it up a bit higher. It still looks pretty :) Guess they just can't resist those sparkles..

Never mind children, I cant keep my cat from destroying it every time i put it up.

Try telling them santa wont bother coming if they keep doing it. Get a friend to phone the house pretending to be santa, advising them to stop pulling it down & see what wonders that may work.

Good Luck!!

Start from scratch with the children and then let them help you place the decorations on the tree. praise them as they go along ,make suggestions and ask for their input. Then when it's all done really make a big noise about how great it is.

I have heard of people taking a Christmas tree and hanging it from their ceiling and decorate it:) How old are the kids? You could just decorate one outside for them to look at through the window. For your indoor tree, get a cactus!
