This guy has been meaning to ask me to prom for a really long time and has liked me since the beginning of the year. Well, this afternoon before I left for school, I noticed that his friends were cheering him on. So I naturally knew that he was finally going to ask me. The thing is, if I had more time, I would have run away with an excuse (this has happened before, because I'm too shy for my own good...). I don't want to hurt his feelings, like I did before with another guy. So I told him, "I don't know. I'll think about it. I have to ask my mom." But I really don't want to go with him because... I just don't want to, even though we're good friends. And I wanted to go with another guy I like, but I can't tell him that because I know he'll get hurt. And that other guy I want to go with doesn't even think of me as any more than just a person he teases in the hallways.
So, how can I tell him I don't want to go? Or should I just go with him since we're friends and we'll have fun? Thanks!

Look him in the eye, "Thank you for asking me, but I can't go with you to the prom."
Understand that you may run the risk of going alone.

be honest with him if hes truly your friend because if he finds out another way it could devastate him and ruin a good friendship between you and him. for this other person who only wants to flirt with you? do he like you or is he someone who want to play and grab on you but not really be seen with you. by the way if you go to prom with him will he have a motive? proms are to be fun and exciting and sometimes best friends make the greatest boyfriends. then there always the option of asking the other guy do he like you and wants to get know u but do not deprive yourself of a good time prom nite. if u cant decide go alone and u still can have a great time.

If you are friends with this guy and you knew he was going to ask you why did you not let him know in some way that you would not be interested before he put himself out there in front of his friends. There is no way his feelings will not be hurt at this point and I think also your friendship.
If you have no other offers on the table why not go with your guy friend at least he doesn't tease you in the hallways. You may be very pleasantly surprised at the outcome.

Two things to consider:
1. If you are interested in another guy, why would you NOT ask him? Who knows...he could be very interested in you as well....if not, then you know not to waste your time thinking about him anymore.
2. If you do decide to go with the guy that is going to ask you, you have to make it crystal clear that you are going as "friends", and nothing more. If you do not, you risk ending that friendship.

Really think about it before you give him an answer. Even if you go with him as a friend, it will be a bigger deal to him, and he is going to have hurt feelings at some point when he thinks you like him and you don't. OR go to prom with him, have a good time, and maybe give him a bj! He won't care what you do after that...Trust me! ; 0

No,prom is important! Just tell him,so he can have time to ask someone else.Or make the decision to go with a group of his male friends!
And you can go stag.
I wouldn't want to be a stand in shadow for someones' prom!
I can do bad all by myself!

You know the answer to this one, you've already said it - go with this nice boy who is your friend and have fun, and don't bother with the other chap for now. Chances are when he sees that another bloke has asked you out, he'll be a bit jealous, and you can then turn around and tell him that he missed his chance!

If you don't have a better off now.... go with him and have a good time. You may end up not getting asked by the other guy.
