i never expected it to happen. But to prove im not lying to i need to take in something to work?

Take in a copy of the death certificate or a clipping from the obituary. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that you have to do that.

Most places will pay three days for you to deal with the funeral of family, but they need prove to have in your file. You do realise some people make a racket out of it, and their grandmother died 6 times, so you have to do this now because of thiefs years ago.

A death certificate will work.

Heartless employers often don't believe people that have been absent alot from work. Perhaps that is the reason for such a company policy.

A workplace can require it... if they havn't asked you for it, I wouldn't fret. However, if they have, either you need to formulate a better lie, or bring in proof (such as the funeral letter or something to that effect)

If they are immediate family you can get something from the funeral home showing proof. That's messed up, though, most jobs don't ask.

If it's not policy, don't take it in. Collect on your berevement pay.
