If possible please attend the funeral. Meet his family or near and dear ones. They will be relieved to meet the person who provided comfort to the deceased on the accident spot.
Present them your sympathy and you too will feel an accomplishment.

Racing is my # 1 sport but i have watched wrestling off and on for 20 years and Chris "the crippler" Benoit was a class act and my wife just recently gave birth to our second son and i lost my 7 month old nephew 3 weeks after my first son was born so i can only imagine what their families are going through, It sickens me to hear about a baby boy not even old enough to have memories being killed. Whenever they find out who did this let me know because i live in the swamps of Louisiana and i would gladly provide the chains the stump and the alligators. It's time we stand up and put a stop to the madness.

I would send a card. I would tell them you where there and waited with him until help came and that you are sorry. If you want to pay your respects go, but I would not expect much out of the family at that time. It is a very hard time to get through. emotions run high, and you forget some of the people that came.

You could go to the funeral and pay respects if it makes you feel better.I dont know that flowers are necessary as they are very costly and you didnt really know him.A card might be your answer.

Send flowers, attend the funeral and let his family know he was never alone, you stayed with him and talked to him and touched him to let him know someone one there with him. Knowing that will give his family peace of mind.
