THE best book on Antique American Gun Values and their history is Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms and Their Values (Paperback), available on Amazon.com. 8th edition is the latest See source below. You can probably find it in a local library. A new updated expanded 9th edition will be out after Christmas.

The Standard Catalog of Firearms in another good reference.

In addition to the Standard Catalog, you also need the Blue Book. Both books have entries that the other lacks. And in spite of the Standard Catalog's title, the Blue Book is the real standard reference for guntraders.
