Every unsaved person will have the Holy Spirit of God upon them to convict them of righteousness and judgment.

Saul did not have the Spirit in him. Saul did things with the Power of God, but rejected the God of power.

Judas was NEVER saved. He was a traitor from the beginning and it is written in the Gospels that Jesus knew this.

In Hebrews 6 it speaks of people who are influenced by the Power of the Holy Spirit, but who are inwardly never changed. In another passage they are compared to animals whose nature has not changed, therefore a dog returns to eat his own vomit.

Good questions, but Saul & Judas are terrible examples if someone is trying to make an argument for losing the Holy Spirit & Loss of Salvation.

Judas Iscariot was not an apostle. only a disciple. if the Holy Spirit was working in his life. i dont think that he was aware of it.

King Saul had the power of God in his life at first. but then he began to make mistake after mistake. and wouldnt listen to authorized counsel from the prophet.

no one could be saved until after Jesus was back in heaven, and the Holy Spirit was sent to be available to all. [john 7:39]

anyone who "has the Holy Spirit" has the assurance of salvation.
because He is the one that gives witness to the individual of being saved. [romans 8:16]

the Bible clearly states what a person must do in order to be saved.

Jesus knew that Judas would betray Him the Holy Spirit could not have been working in Judas Iscariots life because Jesus hadnt ascended to the Father yet and we cant say for sure if King Saul was saved or not only God would know that, case in point God gave all judgment to Jesus, there isnt one of us that could say what their judgment was... our salvation is by grace(unmerited favor) God reveals our salvation to us by revelation and divine inspiration

1) Judas Iscariot is not an Apostle. Not all are save only those that were given to Jesus Christ by His Father.

2) Are you sure that King Saul was not save? If one ask for forgiveness, and since God Almighty is merciful, He will be forgiven and therefore stand to be save.

3) As explain.

4) We might be save, not will be save.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, (and I'm sure you will) but wasn't the Holy Spirit poured out after Jesus was crucified and therefore a long time after Saul's time and after Judas Killed himself. I think the account is in Acts Ch2 or somewhere like that. From what I can gather the Holy Spirit wasn't active in a broad sense until that time.

That is the truth of it. You could have added one more example!

When Ananias and his wife Sapphira lied to the Holy Spirit, these two though having received the Holy Spirit when baptized also died.

In fact, their death may be the second death! That is, no resurrection ever.

Thus those who teach that once save is always saved - are proved wrong by the words of the Holy Spirit.

I did not take it that you are trying to demonstrate that 1 can lose his salvation, merely that the Spirit's aparent work in a man is not automatic proof of his salvation. Am I understanding you correctly?

Slim, while it is true that the Holy Spirit was poured out in an unusual measure in Acts chapter 2, that Person of the Trinity is active throughout the Old Testament (keep in mind there is no upper/lower case in Hebrew):

Genesis 1:2 ~ And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Genesis 6:3 ~ And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man ...

Genesis 41:38 ~ And Pharaoh said unto his servants [ re Joseph], Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?

Exodus 31:3 ~ And I have filled him [Bezaleel] with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, ...

Numbers 24:2 ~ And Balaam lifted up his eyes, and he saw Israel abiding in his tents according to their tribes; and the spirit of God came upon him.

1 Samuel 10:10 ~ And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him [Saul], and he prophesied among them.

1 Samuel 16:14 ~ But the Spirit of the LORD departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.

(This is just a SMALL sampling -- go to biblegateway.com & search for "spirit" -- there are tons of references in Judges.)

Back to your question, brother, I believe there is a work of the Holy Spirit which is not unto salvation. I am not sure I can articulate it well without "doing my homework," but let's leave it at that for now, ok?

1) The Holy Spirit works in the lives of everyone to some degree. Salvation comes when the gift is ACCEPTED by the individual person.

2) see answer 1

4) I believe God means what He says.
1John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God;
that ye may know that ye have eternal life,
and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

Hey Donkey !You might want to smell your rear. How do you know Judas was not saved?FYI the Holy Spirit hadn't arrived until after 40 days of the Resurrection.
Edit It is not an offense to get on your high horses when you are derided.

It is impressed upon mankind through the Holy Spirit to repent of our ways. Accept Christ as our savior and live our lives in a Godly manner by His law. If you choose to not accept or close your heart to it then you have committed a sin.
Judas committed suicide FYI.
And Saul.......He disobeys the commandment of God to wipe out the nation of Amalek.
any questions?
