instead of referring to themselves as just "christians"? it's confusing non-Christian people what to call them.

if a non-Christian ask Christians why they believe in rapture, some Christians of other denomination will protest since their particular sect don't believe in 'rapture'.

can't non-denominational be specific of their name, instead of just calling themselves as "Christians", so that other people can tell which is which, especially because there are thousand sects of Christianity?

Because as a non-denominational person, they can not identify with any particular label. And I am not saying that is bad, it just is what it is.

Many Churches today are declaring themselves non-denominational. Then you go to worship with them and learn that they are for all intents and purposes, Baptists, Methodists, or Presbyterian, or some other denomination.
I seriously believe that they drop the denominational title, to encourage more people to join their group. To say that they are a Baptist Church and have a sign out front, saying this, might turn away someone who had a bad experience as a member of a Baptist church. This can be said of all the different denominations. I am Baptist, so I am not picking on us.

I know of two Baptist Churches that have changed their names on their sign . They dropped the term "Baptist".

I don't believe that any Baptist church would put limits on the thinking of their members, and say if you don't believe this then you must leave our membership. My church encourages free thinking, and as long as it does not disagree with the Holy Bible, then you are living in Gods will. And you may take any lable you like, or reject any that you don't like.

Um, there are no longer any conclusions to come lower back to. A non-denominational church is only that. some are extra self sufficient than others, some are smaller than others, etc, yet they have a extra useful concentration on some needed ideals and a lesser concentration on a large selection of so-referred to as needed ideals.

Hmm. Many of us believe that the term "non-denominational" means exactly the same as "Christian".

I, for one of many, have a problem with people who fly denominational banners...declaring themselves Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, ..., yadda, yadda, yadda ... and seemingly LOST in the concept that they are Christian.

There is far, far, far, far too much conflict amidst the various Christian denominations. And, it is probably our greatest weakness.

There is an evil growing in the world. Quite likely the greatest evil that mankind has ever had to face. It really IS time for Christianity to bind together.

I love the response in the Unity movement that one of the writers - Tom Shepherd - wrote in Unity Magazine. "I am Culturally Christian and Spiritually Unlimited." Check out: http://www.unityonline.org/aboutunity/index.html

well non-denominational is a denomination....in a sense...

It's a separate church that runs itself and does not have a "franchise" of churches...

A lot of non-denominational churches are started by families.
