Why does Islam always seek to spread by destroying others?

Through history Islam has done this in the Middle East, India, the Far East, North Africa, Spain and many many other part of the world.

British MPs have urged the government to take up the plight of Hindus in Malaysia with the Malaysian government (Islamic) and prevail upon Kuala Lumpur not to demolish temples.

In an Early Day Motion moved by Stephen Pound, Chairman of the Labour Friends of India and supported by 19 other MPs, including NRI Labour party leader Keith Vaz, they urged the British government to take up the matter with the Malaysian government in the strongest possible manner. "This house notes with grave concern the stated intention of the government of Malaysia to demolish 79 Hindu temples," the one-paragraph Motion said.

Religion of Peace?

'love_esque' may be proud of her kind but ignores the fact that wrong doing is perpetrated by the Islamic government in Malaysia. Destruction of Hindu temples is ongoing under government orders. What other country doe this? Sorry forgot Kazakhastan destroyed a whole village full of Hindus.

Hope 'riverrock's not attempting to justify destruction of other belief systems. The only religion I know that actually approves of violence is Islam. The proof of this is in the behavior of many of the followers of Islam. Why are there so many extremists in Islam?

All religions, particularly monothestic ones, have waged religious wars and have produced fanatical radical offshoots such as the Taliban.

Happy Christmas is correct, but there are even more modern examples of Christian violence and overreaching. Consider the mid 19th century conquest of the Indians in America. And let's not forget the time of Empire in Britain and the Imperialistic era of the US. One of the major rationales was that we were there to Christianize the people we had conquered.

I am a christian and i know that Christianity also has spread by destroying others. Religion is and has always been an excuse for war or violence the causes are totally different. There three religions Christianity, Muslim and Buddism that i am aware of and Hinduism i think do not speak about violence.
The problem is that politicians and leaders in general always bring religion first so to convince people about a war. Look at the crusades. In India as you have written, religion was the excuse to separate the country, in Middle east if you actually think that religion has to do anything with the endless violence then you do not actually see the facts, everything has to do there with oil and world economy but also with national independence, the same happens most or less in all other cases.

I am a muslim myself, and a Malaysian.
Because we have at least four major religions that are Islam, Christianity, Hinduism and Buddhism, but the official religion is Islam, we need to maintain authority over these religions but I don't think we violently oppress them, because all of these are done through talks and not just simply going up to a temple and destroying it.
If you have been to Malaysia and live amongst its people you would understand...we are not like the west. Although Islam is the official religion, we have tonnes of churches and temples. And hell, Christmas, Chinese New Year and Diwali are celebrated as National Holidays...
How many western countries do you know have that?

I hate to say this man, but the same goes for christianity who have throughout history destroyed other peoples cultures. In all cases they justified this because these people were "savages" who were not christian.

For example:

The crusades
The opium wars in China
The conquest of South America
The colonisation of America
Wars against the ottoman empire in the 17th century
Colonialism in Africa
British occupation of India
Even the witch trials in Europe

What i'm really saying here is that is the nature of any religion that believes itself to be correct and the only true religion that they will try to spread it elsewhere and destroy those who don't believe in the name of protecting their own religion.

I guess now Islam is in your face because it is now trying to do what Christianity did for hundreds of years.

All religions are weird and stupid, and as far as I know the Bible has been and is being used by Christians to create more death and destruction, in the name of God to destroy this planet. It is the Christians bombing and creating new bombs everyday to destroy more people, and the planet. Industrialization is destroying our planet and excuse me., but I believe that is what is destroying us most, not some weird insane religion, like Islam, best bet leave those people alone. and they will leave the rest of the world alone. The west has had its nose in their business for far too long. White people are destroyers and rapists of the world, not muslims

That's what their religion tells them to do. And yes, Christianity has also been guilty of that at times throughout history, but it has never been part of the doctrine. In Islam, it is.

What you need to concentrate on, is who is getting all the bucks doing this.

Probably for the same reasons Christianity did in the 4thC AD,the Conquistadores in Central and South America did in the 14th and 15th C and the Spanish Inquisition did in the 16th C,,,Islam is no different than Christianity was

Is;lam is the religion of peace so if these ppl using such way to destroy others that doesn't mean all muslims are believing in such way of dealing with other societies and religions
