Are you getting flakes in your hair? Usually if so yes, these two are related. Hair after a point does start falling out more, even for women, however, if this happens at an alarming rate, and if there are visible redness on your scalp area, you must see your dermatologist as soon as possible, as it may be a sign of eczama. It's probably because you changed your shampoo, or are using two or three different ones, or that you don't wash your hair as much as you're supposed to.
But if you can't afford to go to the doctor, or have a fear of it, there is a medicinal shampoo, available without prescription, that is very effective against the symptoms that you've described. I forget it's name...something like benaton....? Anyway, just see a doctor....

Yes first you must stop dying your hair, that's a big no no! LOL. And right now buy a shampoo with mostly all natural ingredients because harsh chemicals from drugstore shampoos can really damage your hair. Also, use a conditioner after every time you shampoo! Plus, deep condition your hair AT LEAST once a week. You can buy an expensive deep conditioner or you can use products at home such as oil, egg, etc. Massage whatever deep conditioner you're using into your scalp and hair, let it sit for 30 minutes and then rinse it off. Your hair is really damaged right now but since you're going to stop dying it, it will begin to recover from the damage shortly. Don't use any heat products either. Your hair will be healthy in no time :)

Hair falling out more than typical could be a sign that you have a medical problem, like a thyroid problem or malnutrition. It could also be something like a fungal infection. Why don't you see a doctor? I would say a dermatologist might be the most helpful.

It could be the scratching, caused by dry scalp. Which in turn may be caused by an overuse of drying shampoo or conditioner.
Also, it could be caused by certain meds... like those used for high cholesterol.
And, a thyroid condition can cause hair to fall out... which can also cause dry skin.

Do you wear hair ties? If so stop, the ties damage the hair...causing it to die and fall out prematurely. Other than this I don't know.

Usually it's hormonal - it happens to new mothers - but yours doesn't sound like that if it's affecting your scalp. I'd see your doctor if the irritation persists.
You haven't changed the pill or anything recently?
