this is a good start...sounds like you have the resolve to do something about it just by asking this...i suggest you go to a psychologist first..they're less likely to medicate you....they might be able to help you...therapy is a great thing.....best of luck to you!

Not sure what you mean by commit yourself...just go to a doctor or even a clinic and get a prescription. There are lots of very effective medications out there that you will notice a difference in a few days to a couple of weeks. Sorry, but no instant happy pills out there yet. And if the hubby can't work with you during a crisis whether it's short term or long term then maybe he's part of the underlying problem.
Btw, I am a single male, not female. I have mild clinical depression and it's very difficult to deal with. I take a low dose of Paxil and it helps a bit. Might also want to look into natural remedies like amino acids to help boost your seretonin levels. Once again it takes time but you will feel better...that's the most important thing. Don't get discouraged or feel shame....these are very common problems these days...unfortunately. Another thing...don't think for a second that everyone around you is happy....I used to think that until I found out evrybody is on some kind of medication...even the ones you least expect it...believe me!

It is very easy to commit your self....the hard part is leaving when you feel you are ready to leave....it is left up to the doctor's discretion completely once you are in there.

To commit yourself, just go to the nearest (and try to find the BEST, NICEST, CLASSIEST place you can regardless of the cost, so you don't get exposed to the real low lifes) and let them know you want to commit yourself. They will GLADLY
take your things in your luggage, go through your purse and
count every single thing in it and take out any money or any objects that they would consider a "danger" to you or others, then they will put you into at least a 24 hour suicide watch "lockdown" in which you cannot speak to family at all and have MANY privileges taken away, like not even being able to take a walk outside......then, you will be required to go through therapy sessions every day ALL day from 6:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.....after that is "free time" usually, when everyone sits and stares at the t.v. until it is time to take the drugs. And the doctors can give you whatever drug they choose.....THAT IS DEFINITELY NOT YOUR CHOICE.....even is it turns out to be a hallucinogen or an anti-psychotic.

I will stop here. Still sure you want to to this? Your reputation and your self esteem will never be the same...trust me....been there, DONE THAT!!!

Sometimes mental problems can make even simple tasks, like making a doctor's appointment, seem overwhelming. Perhaps you can enlist the help of your spouse to help you take care of things you don't feel like doing. And hopefully this will also show your spouse that you are really interested in helping your marriage be the best it can. I wish you a wonderful future.

Go to the emergency room. Hospital stay is on average 3 days for depression. If there are more serious issues you may need to go to a mental hospital for a longer stay. To get in a mental hospital you need to get the right officials to approve it. A psychiatrist can tell you how and refer you to the appropiate person if it is necessary. It is easier to get in if you have the money, but it is necessary to have the money.

Is it commit yourself to therapy? Call a friend, a trusted friend. Tell them of your difficulties. Ask them to sit beside you while you make an appointment with a psychiatrist and to go with you to that appointment.
If it's commit yourself to a mental treatment center, call your docor therapist. They can assist you. If you have none of these, go to the hospital ER room. Ask them for help and tell them you need inpatient treatment.
If you have good medical insurance, it will be quite easy. If not, not so easy.

see your gp who should be able to get you a place in a psychiatric unit. how good/bad that unit is is the luck of the draw but it will give you a place where you will feel safe and be able to begin to evaluate your problems and possible solutions. ive been very fortunate to have a wonderfully supportive and caring partner but i know it is far from easy for our othrt halves.

I applaud you for having the wisdom to know you need help and the courage to want to be helped! If you will go to the nearest E.R. and tell them in triage that you're in crisis, they will help you. God bless and good luck. May you recover to enjoy happiness in your life and your marriage.
