Is it okay to have them standing up or should you lie them down? Do you keep them in a bag? Is the garage okay for storing? Any tips would be helpful.

In season, I just bring the skis inside and let them dry off. I wipe the snow off first and usually the air inside the house just dries them off. I stand them up in a corner by the door. I used to have a sweet wall rack at my old place. You can always build one or buy a pre-fab plastic floor holder.

Off-season, I give them a good coat of wax and tape the edges with electrical tape to keep them from rusting. I keep them in my shed now, but in the past I've stored them in places such as...basements, closets, on ski racks, or...in the corner by the door (right next to the shotgun.)

I never put my skis in a bag....I don't own a ski bag. I barely pay for lift-tix...do you think I'm gonna waste money on a bag? I don't see the point. Skis go from the house, into the Thule box, and onto the slope...repeat process on the way home. I suppose if I had to take the train or something then I would need a bag.

In the winter, when you're using them often, standing them up in a corner near the door is fine. Make sure to wipe them down when you come home (to prevent rust) and never stand skis on their tips.
Also, don't leave them in the car as they also are prone to rust there.
In the summer, you'll want to put a protective coat of ski wax on the bases, and make sure they are clean and dry before placing them either standing up or lying down in a dry place.

I usually just store my snowboard in the spare bedroom standing up. And not in a bag.
