The pecuniary jurisdiction of Civil Judge, Jr. Division, is limited to Rs.1 lakh while there is no limit set for Civil Judge, Senior Division .
This means that a Civil Judge (Junior Division), is not en powered to hear cases where the punishment for the crime exceeds Rs. 1 Lakh.

We don't use those terms here in SoCal for differentiating our judges but I'll venture to say it boils down to the degree of the case.

I would think that Junior Division Judges hear cases that are misdomeanors and infractions while Senior Division Judges hear felony cases.
