Used to be 3 years before you PCSed, now it's 4. You get orders several months in advance, but it varies, so there's no definite answer. Yes, my mom got her dream assignment all but one or two assignments that she served, but she was an officer. The higher up she ranked, the more pull she had.

We've gotten bases off of our dream sheet 3 times out of 6 moves. But, then again, we only tend to put down bases that we know are available. We've only gotten a first choice once. And, we did NOT get any of the follow-ons choices that we requested after his remote.

It is a minimum of FIVE years right now due to the downsizing of the Air Force and war needs. Of course some people never move. There are people here at Eglin that have been here for over 10 years without orders. It is more than likely that you will stay at our first duty station for the duration of your first enlistment

It depends...and yes we just got a pick off the "dream" sheet but it depends if they need the rank and position on that base......look into the base because its not always a dream but a nightmare...at the job sight

last message that came down was MINIMUM 5 years on station.
Being Navy, and because of my husband's job, we move maximum every 3 years. we have never NOT gotten our first choice of duty station.
