The credit card place has the right to demand payment in full if you don't make some attempt to pay off your debt. Call them and ask what can be done. Sometimes an affordable payment arrangement can be made, but you have to be sure to keep payments up to date.

In addition to the above, the credit card issuer can raise your rate, and charge a penalty for going over your credit limit in addition to the standard financing charge.

And of course, your credit score takes a nose dive.
