I am an artist that teaches. I am a sub. contractor and I teach at different schools. At any rate, the company that has sub. contracted me has not paid me. When I try to ask for the pay check, they brush me off. I really need to money for obvious reasons. What is the 'christian' thing to do in this situation.

You handle it in a business manor whether you are Christian or not. Your first step is to ask for a serious meeting with whom ever is in charge explaining your situation and your desire for payment. Please let them know that you do enjoy working with them, however if payment isn't received within a reasonable time, that you intend to take legal action. You remain calm and professional at all times, especially if you think you would like to sub there in the future, but please consider that it may not be wise to do so if this place practices unprofessional behavior. God bless you.

I worked for many years, being a transcriptionist for a psychologist who worked for little to no money. I went as much as 3 months between paydays, but I never quit because I knew his work was so worthwhile. If you aren't getting regular pay, perhaps you should consider doing something else on the side to supplement, like eBay or some kind of odd jobs. There are senior citizens who will pay someone to drive them to appointments, etc. There is always something one can do to make a few extra dollars, if need be.

God bless!

The bible says the worker is worthy of his wages. If they do not pay you, you need to send a certified letter requesting your back wages and begin legal action. Christianity does not mean it is ok to cheat us. Document everything from phone calls to correspondence. Date, time, the person you spoke to. and the outcome of the contact. Talk to your state board of equalization or labor department. You don't need to be nasty, just do what you can legally. Hope this helps.

I am Christian but I don't understand why you wouldn't accept advice from people that are not Christian. That isn't very christian of you and curious.People that are not christian still no basic human decency as well as moral values. I am surprised how closed minded you are being.

Hi Fred,
God does not want you to be a door mat. Have an attorney write them a letter, advising them that they will have to pay you or you will take them to small claims court.

Get mediation - talk to a fellow brother in the church and get him to intercede on your behalf with the contractor. Best wishes to you.

The christians would pray to jesus. If somehow you got the money, it's jesus' work. If you don't get your money, jesus is working in mysterious ways. (more accurately, jesus was busy helping Halle Berry winning her Oscar!)

I'm an atheist, not that it should matter. I'd sue.
