I will be in myrtle beach for the entire month of feb 08. What are best courses to play rate-wise that would be easy on the wallet?

I lived in Georgetown, SC and played a lot of courses in the area. One of the best kept secrets is a course between Hemingway and Johnson, it will probably be about 40 miles from Myrtle Beach. But for the money there was not a better course in the area. I have played the Dunes and a lot of the others but Wellman Country Club was the best conditioned course in the area. You ought to try it. I believe you will thoroughly enjoy it. P.S. It has been twenty years though since I played there. If you play it let me know how it is.

I'm a big fan of the American Lung Association's Golf Privilege Card -- excellent discounts and it benefits a great organization. They're not available for all areas, but you can get great deals where they are offered. I see one covers the SE, including South Carolina. I just eyeballed their brochure and there are 14 courses in the Myrtle Beach area that offer discounted greens fees.

The main site is here:
http://www.golfprivilegecard.com/
but the easiest way to view the brochure for the SE card is from one of the participating states. Here's the Florida chapter's site --
http://www.mrsnv.com/evt/home.jsp?id=1791

You'll see a link on the left that says "Links to Course Info". That'll take you to a page with a .pdf of the brochure for the SE region so you can check out available courses before you buy.

Hope this helps -- have fun!
