You normally want to keep your sets between 5 and 20 depending on what you goals are. The more weight you lift the bigger you get. The more reps you do the more tone, but less build you will get.

Depends on what you mean by 'results'. Yeah, you will probably gain more muscle with the heavier weights. However, the movement of your arm is burning calories. So, if that is your goal, stick the higher reps. If you want more muscle, stick to the heavier weights.
An additional factor is a simple matter of being able to lift heavier and heavier weights. You could increase your reps to conquer the 'plateu' as they called and/or increase your weight. But the difference between heavier weights versus higher reps depends solely on your ambitions.

dont do 3 sets of 30 thats not good, if you can do something 12 times or more you should move up in weight. So if you can curl 12 times each arm or 24 times together ( one after another) then you should move up. So 3 sets of 15 is better with 20lbs, but i suggest 22.5 for 12 each arm for 4 sets

It doesn't work that way. You need to lift an amount that you can only lift for 8-12 times per set, if you want to gain size. Higher reps will make you look toned, but won't increase your size. Look at runners: running is essentially a lot of reps, and they don't have size.

You will gain more power because you will be lifting a heavier weight but you may lose endurance because you are doing less reps. It really depends on the results you are looking for.

The latter is better (15 reps) but it may be better to do 2 sets of the latter and then one set of the former.

there has to be a point to your training as you train for either size, strength or endurance and you use sufficient weight depending on "your" strength levels to achieve that goal. your question makes no sense as you give no indication of your level of strength.

well the liter weight with the more reps will help tone... were the heaver is to be more bulk
