I would agree with most of the answers now. The photo you take is not solely dependent on the camera you use. Yes there would be situations you need better gear, like glass instead of plastics and faster processors for the image among others.
But a great photo can be taken with your camera. Composition would be the key. Knowing how to compose the picture so it says more can be done on an older Camera even one which is not Digital.
Lighting is important, you would never want to shoot against light, though some do this with the right filters for great effects.
I guess what you can do is read up on techniques for composition, join a camera club, and practice taking pictures.
Hope this helps.

6.1 is still a decent MP. I have an 8MP Kodak Easyshare and it takes AMAZING photos. It's the best camera I've ever had.
Depending on what you're photographing, you may just need a tripod. Sometimes that steady hand makes all the difference.
I took photos of the lunar eclipse we had this year with my Kodak, they came out beautifully. I say take the photo a few times and see what it is you could change. Stability, lighting, angle. All those things will make a huge difference in the end.

You can take a great picture with a throw away camera. It's not as much the camera as it's who's standing behind the camera.

Of course it's possible. Choose a beautiful setting, and interesting subject, a fascinating angle to view it from, choose the appropriate setting on your camera, and go for it! Good luck!
