Assalaam Aylekuim

I live in England.. and it is generally good to be a Muslim here. In my city there are many Muslims and it is easy to practice Islam. There are many mosques and it is easy to buy Halal food.. Women are protected in hijab and we can take time off from /schools work for Eid.. And generally we have good relations with none Muslims.

We have small problems.. with the media that it is always printing lies about us.. and some pratice of Islam is too cultural and not pure Islam.. but that is about it.

What is is like praticing Islam in your country?

Asalaamu Aliaykim, sister.

Native New Yorker and there are many masjids and Muslims here in New York.

I like al-Masjid Al-Taqwa (Imam Sirraj Wahaaj) and the New York Islamic Cultural Center. Halal stores around the city (one within blocks of my residence).

Everyone gets along pretty good- the majority of New Yorkers don't jump to media conclusions, which helps maintain good relations.

Practicing is real easy- the places I've worked are pretty accommodating. My current job has a prayer room for Muslims and the chaplains (Protestant/Baptist) are very friendly at my work place.

when you say muslims im guessing your just referring to pakistani and asians etc, before you complain about something, understand the issue first. race, culture and religion are different things there are many white, brown, black muslims etc just because your a pakistani dosent mean your a muslim. secondly terrorism has nothing to do with islam, Saladin exactly portrays Islam. Right now, Islam is portrayed as a terrorist religion. Because a few terrorists are Muslims, the whole religion has that image. If there ever was a religious war full of terror, it was the Crusades. But you can't blame Christianity because a few adventurers did this. (Moustapha Akkad) true muslims are very peaceful and loving people, i admit some are bad but hatred is making YOU blind and your giving islam a bad image. first find out what islam is then find out what culture and race is (pakistani etc).

Wa'alaykum salaam warrahmatullahi wabarakatuh.

It is good to know that there parts of the western country where muslim brother and sister can practice their faith in a peaceful way.

I am from Malaysia, and since this is natural a Muslim country, then you know that practising here is natural as it can be.
I'm quite sadden and in some cases shocked at how behement these lies thrown at us Muslims when I went through the world news all over.

Even here, as in the R&S I'm hard press in seeing how dreadful their accusation is against Islam. I never know this is what its like what my brothers and sisters are facing against a culture dominate by other religion. I thought I've learned enough, but I soon realised that I know next to nothing in how to deal with what our muslim brethen are facing at the moment. This is truly Jihaad at its best.

I'm sorry but I have to say I live in the US and I used to live in the Midwest and although wolf... may be correct in some things she says about her area she is wrong about others. Most Muslims in the US are NOT students. (Census info will show this). International students CAN work but there are rules pertaining to when they can get permission etc and this applies to foreign students FROM EVERY COUNTRY in the world.

We CAN speak Arabic outside and people often do with no police picking us up unless we seem suspicious or the police officer is a jerk -- really they will go question black Americans this way more than they would approach an Arab or Muslim. It's disgusting either way.

Not every country gives their students money when they study abroad, that is a generalization.

By law students can get out of school for religious observances. To get off for work one needs to ask with plenty of time in advance but there should be no problem it's just like asking off for a doctor's appt. the only issue is we aren't sure what day eid will land on so that can be troublesome.

Where I currently live (in this metropolitan area) there are LOTS of Muslims and Arabs (Christian Arabs too). There are plenty of halal food stores and masjids and some Islamic schools (even an Islamic Montessori school!) but we are spread out so you have to drive everywhere and it isn't as nice as in Europe where you can stroll down the street and see Muslims all over (like when I lived in France). It is a very different atmosphere. I live in TX so we are even more spread out than the Midwest or places in the eastern states. We live in our cars. lol I can say that 90% of the time I go out shopping nearby I am sure to see at least one woman in hijab.

I live in the south so there are a lot of fundie Christians around which makes for an interesting experience. You have people respect you because you are conservative then hate you because you aren't Christian. I think people are less friendly to Muslims here than elsewhere but some are often forced to have contact with them since there are a lot of us and growing masha'allah.

Assalaam A Alaikum,

I am from Pakistan but now living in UAE (Sharjah) it’s really nice to stay here as it’s a Muslim Country.

Well in UAE a lot of Mosques are here and it’s hard to decide which one is nice as all the Mosques are best and beautiful.

UAE is a Muslim Country so we (Muslims) don’t have any problem about practicing Islam here.

Yes my relations also very good with non Muslims. As I can’t hate any one.

In UAE you will find all the nationalities and different religions as the GOVT respect all the religions.

May Allah keep all the Muslim Ummah in His Rahama (Ameen)

in my country Muslims are in a large number but are often targeted as terrorists and unnecessarily oppressed.
There was a mass murder in a Muslim Area just a few Years ago. Yest in our state there is no such thing. Our place is terror torn but its Muslim dominated and being a Muslim here is very very easy.
Halal food is available and Mosques are in plenty. Women dont wear Hijab always because they are idiotically effected by glam-sham media. People seem to be slowly weaning away from Islam but still there are a lot of honest and pious people.

I come from the Country with a heritage of Love. The Paradise on Earth.

Waalaikumsalam
I live in a small country, Malaysia. We are pretty much at a comfort zone here (most of the time). Even Chinese, Indian restaurants promoting halal food here (fyi, KFC, McD, Pizza Hut is halal here!).

It's good to hear some good news from Muslim community in Western side.

Walaikumussalam..i live in the uae, middle east, and it being a muslim country, life as a muslim is gratefully secure over here..however, i do quite resent the fact that the place is getting a bit westernised and unislamic gradually, and in the process losing its charm//otherwise, i love this country, and would gladly remain here for a very long time...

I Live in a Muslim country, but to be honest I really don't like the atmosphere here. We can hear 5 times Adhan Alhumdolillah, which reaches to every corner of our home but still the way youngsters listens to music loudly the way girls dress up, Muslim girls and women and almost transparent clothes that under garments could easily be seen. This is nothing but a downfall.
I have spent the precious years of my life in Saudi Arabia and thats the reason I want to leave my home country as soon as I can,My brother is very religious too and he has finally gone abroad for his further studies, alhumdolillah. and there its ok to have people like that where their religion is not Islam. but still people are good there and cover themselves nicely, its not like the way as it is in America or similar countries.

Its good to live among people who calls Allah whenever they are in need, but still I'm not happy with the muslims around me.
