I Love Vista!! I've been using the Vista Ultimate 64-bit since it came out and we use it for everything from surfing, schooling, business, and I also play all the many pc games including all of the newly released ones with no problem.
People just complain because they don't want to learn or just can't read. The rest can't run it well because they have crappy low-end systems that can't handle Vista.
I don't care what they say. Vista is the greatest!

Too slow.
I bought a Vista compatible Toshiba laptop for $2000, and it still scores an experience index of 2. The Aero interface is great - too bad I can't use. I wish I knew that before I shelled out the money for the high end version of the OS.

It also rendered most of my games useless. I can't get Sid Meyer's Pirates to work. Drives me crazy.

As for Linux, after using Fedora and Suse for several years, I'll take my chances with Vista. Something about getting paid for your work motivates people to turn out quality applications.

It came with this computer. My experiment is to keep it off the shelf and see how long it takes before it is inoperable.

Whats all that STUFF its doing in the background? Graphics are cool, but I have worked a lot with graphics and they don't take up THAT much memory. Is this security and privacy for ME or for MICRO$OFT? Where does MICRO$OFT get all of their info for their data mining service anyways?? When I install an open source firewall why does windows have to check for updates every couple of hours? And why does the whole OS become inoperable when I try to kill the system file that is responsible? I mean I have deleted unneeded system files with older windows and it was fine...

I would go on but I am only halfway through an AS in IT so I don't fully know what I'm talking about yet. I will complain more after I get the bachelors in security.

Because I used to be able to access the edit functions without having to press ALT, (in my old, Windows computer) which I have to do now, in Internet Explorer, so I prefer to work, using the Firefox web browser (which will let me copy from the address bar: I.E. won't), but Firefox won't give me activated weblinks on typing: I have to go back to I.E., to activate them. Bend over, Microsoft executives: I have a message for you!!! People are now searching out unsold stocks of old windows computers, just to avoid Vista: I DON'T BLAME THEM. If there was a CD in a computer magazine that I could just pop in, and load simply, as an alternative to the Microsoft operating system, along the lines of Linux Ubuntu; even as a relative novice: I'd be in it like a shot! Also, I used to be able to download freeware for antivirus, firewall, which is now incompatible with Vista. GRRR!!!

Because the new microsoft word has a horrible user interface that takes forever to try to find something.

Because they tried to copy Macs, but failed miserably.

Because almost none of the software is backwards compatable.

Because when you save a file, it gives you some junk, not the files and folders in the explorer menu like in all other operating systems.

Because they didn't change the control panel back to the way it was in Windows 2000, which was infinitely better than in XP.

Because it sucks.

Because the help is horrible.

Over the weekend there was a period of several hours during which online validation of Windows Vista systems was failing. Microsoft quickly acknowledged the problem and fixed it within a few hours. However they still have not, at least to my knowledge, determined or acknowledged the cause of the problem,

Some of the programs I have on XP aren't compatable with vista.

Because it is made to be hated. Worst copy of a MacOS-X ever made.

Maybe because UAC is really a pain-in-the-*** and linux distro are far better ? ;)

Vista == Millenium 2.

lack of compatibility and that is requires more cpu horsepower with no extra functionality gained.

there are plenty of programs that will change the look of XP for free. why pay a couple of hundred for no bonafide new features, jus retreads of existing stuff.

Cause it's a worse version of ME. XP has been the best thus far.
