The pros would be: filling in the ranks of a military that is slowly losing manpower. Bringing American youth out of this lackadaisical attitude a majority of them seem to have. Draftees through out our history have performed very well. They know they have to serve, so they go and do the job the best they can so they can get back home and continue their lives.
The cons: Volunteers for some reason don't think that serving with people that don't want to be there make sub-standard soldiers, putting them at risk. (this is pure bunk). I have served with numerous draftees that ended up making the Army a career because they enjoyed the life style, the challenges, adventure and camaraderie.

Other countries like Spain, Italy, Israel, and some of your Balkan countries have a modified compulsory service requirement. Not all are the same-some are military only, some are optional in exchange for qualifying for grants and loans for higher education and other programs, some include longer periods for service in a government, non military capacity. Check out those that Spain and Italy have and I think you will find that they are pretty dynamic and much more palatable than what the draft was that the United States had in the late 60s early 70s and may give you some excellent positives.

PRO: Our nation's slackers would be Canada's problem.
CON: The Military would stop giving signing bonuses
PRO: More people would have military experience, and I love a guy who knows how to use a gun
CON: Our volunteer soldiers would have to guard and be guarded by people who don't necessarily want to be there
PRO: Half of the lazy-asses I know would finally have jobs. The other half would be in Canada.
CON: As a people, we'd probably become more disillusioned with the government
PRO: Our opponents wouldn't stand a chance
CON: Defense spending would necessarily increase, either requiring a tax increase or funding would have to be funneled from other departments.
CON: More peoples' fates would directly rest in the hands of our incapable congress
PRO: People would probably become more civically-engaged. They'd vote more and insist on having a real say in the direction of this country (as opposed to only about half voting in any given election right now)
CON: When the war ends and the hypothetical draft is either repealed or gets cut back, a lot of people could lose jobs and the country could be thrown into a recession reminiscent of the 1970's "stagflation."

personally i dont think that there will be a draft for the war that we are in now. but if we had to go to war against another country at this time then there would be. there are no pros or cons to this. the united states needs to change the way we look at the military. i personaly feel that the united states needs to make a mandatory 2 year service aggrement like some other countries do. this will reduce any problems in which we have .

There are no pros. A draft would destroy our military and our social sensibilities won't allow for some of the changes that would be necessary to make it work.

There is NOT going to be a draft. That was just something the Democrats use to scare people into voting for them.
Since 9/11 the U.S. Military has has more people sign up for military service & re-up than any other time.

lots of individuals have been saying Christian replaced into going to instruct heel after he misplaced his championship, which regrettably he did, so i do no longer comprehend, yet i think of Christian stands out as the only to instruct heel between him and Orton on condition that Orton is yet another huge babyface besides John Cena.. additionally, i replaced into truthfully questioning what might ensue if The Miz grew to become face =O.. Miz is an excellent heel, yet i ask your self how he may be as a advantageous guy.. i think of that is exciting to observe.. i'm no longer able to relatively are waiting for heel/face turns on condition that i'm undesirable at that, yet I DO wish for specific superstars to alter their character.. as an occasion Cena, even regardless of the undeniable fact that this won't in any respect ensue, I wish he grew to become heel so his feud with The Rock must be greater exciting.. He might get lots hate, and that's what a heel action picture star is meant to have.. i might completely like to work out this edge of Cena lower back.. apart from, i do no longer care what sort of person Khali is, I do exactly no longer think of he brings something to the WWE.. He went from a fearless monster to a kissy kissy puppet, and now that's too overdue to get well that previous character lower back.. I merely wish he replaced into fired, he's taking on area for human beings that are truthfully gifted.. I merely wish IF yet another Draft happens, I wish WWE ought to truthfully get smart and commence enhance remarkable storylines so i ought to relatively get hooked onto them..

pros-some teenager somewhere might actually realize what it means to do something for others rather than being completely self absorbed and materialistic.
cons-the military would be full of self absorbed materialistic teenagers that are more interested in what paris hilton is wearing rather than the sacrifice others made to build this country.

The pros - more bodies to rotate in, shorter tours.
The cons - a lower quality of soldier, a worse job of promoting and protecting democracy, more civilian discontent, and more unrest here in the US with the current administration trying to make us swallow their BS policies.
