My children where the sunshine of my life and yes they did get to me once in a great while...they were great kids and we had such fun when they were growing up. BUT then as they each turned 18 it seemed they changed and it has been an upward battle ever since. My ex brother-in-law and his wife are very close to me and he said recently after raising four children who are all now 29 and beyond that kids move into a__hole valley about 18 and don't move out till about 28. I what like.."You 're kidding right? and he was laughing and saying Nope. And I must say that is where my daughter resides with her new husband and my son is starting to move out (28) with his new wife. LOL! funny but soooo true!! They are on my last nerve right now!! lol! I actually fantasize about moving far enough away so that I can't be disappointed when they make plans and then don't show!! Just fantasizing...; )

I have the male counterpart of Shari's daughter. He always thinks he is so superior and should tell me the "truth", including telling me that because I took Excedrein PM for sleeplessness I was a "drug addict". I have never used drugs, ever. Many if us seniors can't sleep through the night, Excedrin is an OTC product....I do not like being talked down to by him, I have left at time 13 messages for him to call me, since he will not pick up his phone, he doesn't return phone calls becasue he is too "busy".

They are a gift from God

However, since my husband died, I think they must think I've lost my mind. They seem to want to make choices for me----You need to do this, do that--get a job-- write a very long time casual friend who is single.

They are helpful and loving in a pushy sort of way. I will always be grateful that they care, but I try to tell them I am still functioning and wish to make my own plans!

Yes, especially when I feel I am walking on egg shells to avoid
any confrontation with them. Especially a daughter who feels
she can say anything, since she's been an adult. Regardless
of who may take it wrong (me). I raised her to be well manner-
ed and considerate of others, but she's been the little rebel
since 4th grade. So the only thing I can do, is have space
between the two of us. And that way both of us has our
nerves spared.

It wouldn't be natural if you children didn't pluck your nerves.

You bring up your children to think for themselves and to learn from their mistakes.

Sometimes you just have to let them make those mistakes if it leads to no harm to anyone.

Because you have raised your kids to think and act for themselves, whether you agree or not, you have to accept that their ideas are likely to be different from yours.

EDIT: Silky -- I'm so sorry to hear your offspring seems to have originated in another solar system. At some point things should improve, but I can't say when!

Yes, and yesterday I would have had something to say about that! LOL

But today I'm glad I didn't say it...'cause the one I was peeved with called me this a.m. and did something incredibly sweet and generous for me!

Ya' gotta love 'em....they belong to US! :-)
