I was not always a Child of God...... I called myself a believer, but that was about all I was.... I knew there was God, I did not believe God tho..... it took me 34 yrs or so to walk the path of Gods calling...... He had to konk me over the head many times, and even show His love to me many times.... I saw MANY miracles and blessings before I came to realise just who and what Jesus was and is...... Praise God he never lost faith in me !!!!!!!!!! go in peace........ God bless

I was born and raised a Catholic. I had no choice in that. But after I met my then boyfriend (now my husband), I started to study the bible and learned the vast difference in being a Catholic and that of my husband who is a Jehovah's Witness. I learned the difference between truth and fallacy.

Others believe that Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in Christ or accept He is the Son of God. We do, which is why we are also Christians. And it is because of discovering this truth about Christ being the living example of the Heavenly Father and doing the Father's will that I remain a Christian, Christ's follower. It is a very difficult task to do, imperfect human and all that but, I try to live by Christ's standards.

Yes, I am.

Wouldn't it be a great deal better to focus on the Kingdom of Heaven as the assurance provided by entering into (accepting) the covenant of the New Testament for forgiveness of sin and salvation of the eternal soul thru Jesus, Son of the one true God...instead of not wanting "to go to hell" or any other negative?

Christianity really ISN'T about negatives. It's about love and mercy.

It's for the abuse. Isn't that essentially what your last question established?

They were saying they were blessed if reviled and felt good about it. Perhaps for the first time I truly get christians. I get what you want.

What a fool I was to be so polite all of these years. It makes total sense. Why would any one knock on a strangers door? Why try to legislate your belief.

Christians want to be hated.

Ace thank you. I'm completely serious. It was your post that lifted the fog from my eyes. Or more accurately the answers to it. I've been wondering ever since coming here what was going on inside the heads of christians.

FEAR!!!! FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR FEAR!!!!

I believe in God because I fear going to hell... Yeah... that's the ticket! Forget all this "loving God" stuff... all He wants to do is kill us and send us to hell! Yeah, that sounds right!

He couldn't care less about me, He never did. Yeah... right, Good! Hell is filled with all sorts of nasty things... things that eat babies.... things that look gross... things that scare the living daylights out of a person! WHOA!!! Who wants to go THERE? NOT ME!!!

I look at God and all I see is this big, selfish, bloated thing all pumped up with His own ego! Yeah, THAT'S the ticket! And all He wants to do is kill me and send me away to that nasty, hot, firey place He calls hell!

OMG!!! I don't want to go THERE!!! I guess if I have to choose, I'd rather choose to NOT go to hell, so i guess I'll be going to heaven because ... well... OMG!!! I'm so AFRAID when I look at that big, mean, ugly thing called God that if I don't do as He says, I'll be tortured forever! FOREVER!!! Whoa! That's right! Yeah, that's the ticket! I am SO afraid of a God that hates me that I want to be WITH Him so I won't be tortured for eternity! Yeah, that makes a whole LOTTA sense to me!

===GEESH you guys! FEAR is NOT why we worship God, it is NOT why we will go to heaven... we do NOT "kiss His butt" because we fear His punishment.... we do NOT fear Him because He is an ANGRY God.

In ALL my born days, with ALL the Christians I have met and spoken to.... and at my age, that's quite a few, thanks!... I have never... NEVER spoken to one who FEARS God! Why do all you non-believers keep repeating ... FEAR, FEAR, FEAR, FEAR? WHERE do you get this idea from? What Christian has actually TOLD you this is why he/she believes? ... for I know NONE myself.

Have a blessed day.

Fear. Because the Christian God threatens to send non-believers to hell.

Cause I can sin all week long and then be forgiven Sunday morning in time to BBQ and drink more whiskey before Sunday night football. And it's always okay.
