How far would the church have to go before you would begin to question?
- reinstating polygamy?
- ordaining women to the priesthood?
- the prophet admitting in conference that it isn't true?
- elimination of the temple ceremonies?
- declaring that all atheists should be put to death on the spot regardless of the legal consequences?
- something else?

I know these may seem ridiculous but I'm just wondering how far it would have to go before you would begin to doubt.

And if you don't have an answer then please don't post...I'm curious to see what responses I get.

Coriantum - Would you drink poisoned Kool-Aid? I know you should pray to verify...I'm just wondering at what point would you question? Maybe think about if you were a member of another religion and answer the question with that in mind.

God would never ask his chosen people to kill a group of people? - humina?

The bible is full of instances when God did exactly this...he just hasn't recently (in the LDS church). But somehow you know the mind of God well enough to know that he is done with this sort of barbaric behavior.

Wow! You guys need to read the Old Testament some time and maybe even some of Brigham Young's sermons from Mormon Doctrine...you would be horrified if you are truly living in a bubble like your answers indicate.

3, 4, 5.

God can do whatever he wants. If He wants polygamy, then who am I to say no? If he wants women as priests, who am I to say no?

When I first joined the Church there were several times decisions or statements were made by the President that I initially questioned. Upon reflection, I see that each was a measured and well considered position. These were minor compared to the block-buster ones you used as examples. I don't follow blindly, but I am willing to accept that on balance, the prophet knows more about the will of Heavenly Father than I do.

If there were major doctrinal changes that I seriously questioned, I would support them if they lead more people to Christ.

I'm with all the other LDS people on here. I would have to get personal confirmation from God before I made any decision. If what was said was God's word, then who am I to question that? But God would never say to kill a group of people, not without there being a Very, VERY, VERY valid reason, and since we follow the law of the land, that would never be asked of us.

Anything that breaks the law of the land is questionable. The Lord would not tell us to do something like kill or have plural marriages as they are illegal.

I would obviously pray on it and find out also whether it is the Church's actual standpoint or it was just someone who had gone crazy

You should repost this for Catholics regarding the Pope, too. Fun question! According to the bible, killing your own son is not too much to ask.

I would do as I always have - pray for my own testimony of the spirit as to what the truth of it is. I would certainly take it to the Lord because I have with all of the rest of it.

If they said believe all the answers on Yahoo Answers I would began to worry. But I do not think that will ever happen.
