My best advice to you: go to a Chinese restaurant (it can even be take out) and order some hot and sour soup. Buy the largest amount they have and eat it for lunch and dinner until you feel better. It's almost like magic soup. It shouldn't run you more than a couple of bucks. Get well soon!

Honey.....Use Honey in Green tea! The antitoxins will displace from your body. Drink plenty of fluids. Or just a Tablespoon of honey. Check with your doctor if your diabetic :) Use Decaff, so you can also get a good nights rest! (Very important> Rest!). Besides a multivitamin, take some orange juice for vitamin C with pulp, Iron, Zinc, B-complex, and a great bowl of chicken soup with a side of Garlic and oil in the pasta. Build up your immune system. Have a good salad with celery, tomatoes, radishes, and carrots. If the symptoms persist, Say "whats up doc?" and see your primary Medical Doctor. Hope you are feeling better! The PH levels count. If your stressed out, try a teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate, to settle it!
Be well and Happy Holidays!

Go to the health food store, and look for an expectorant (phlegm inducer to help you cough UP whatever irritates your throat) called slippery elm bark. You can get cough syrups with it, or get the caps, which I prefer. This will help clean out your lungs and soothe a dry hacking cough by loosening chest congestion.

You can also knock any cooties out with garlic, a natural antibiotic. This can come in its natural form (fresh or minced) or in pill form as a supplement from any pharmacy in a discount store, even dollar stores. Careful with fresh raw garlic because it can burn the skin in your mouth. Also, do this as soon as possible and stop a couple days before your vacation because even odor free garlic in higher doses will eventually give an odor to your skin, and numbers 1 and 2. You can take as much garlic supplement as you want without risking an overdose, I would go with about 3 at a time, at 1000mg each, 2 times a day until your symptoms disappear.

Warm salt water gargle is a must for a sore throat. It sanitizes the inside of your mouth...just rinse well to get it off your teeth.

Keep up with your sleep, and your hygiene, especially handwashing. You can also take a nice comfortably hot bath with a 2lb box of epsom salts. This will sweat toxins through your skin. After about 20 minutes of soaking, stand up, drain the tub, and take a warm shower with a gentle body wash or soap to rinse off the impurities. Try this daily until you feel better. Moisturize your skin after...it is drying.

Back at the health food store, eucalyptus oil will help keep sinuses clear and help with your cough.

Amen to that guy posting about hot & sour soup, it really does work.
The most pleasent one i know of for sore throats is a big blob of honey on the back of you're throat, let it run down, its a natural antiseptic. Most cough syrups (if you check the ingredients) are just sugar and water, they're used to keep the throat lubricated

I will tell you a real 'cheap' medicine:

Take a glass of warm water and
mix three teaspoon of cooking salt.

Gargle with this water.
Take the water to deep throat when you gargle.

Repeat 3 to 6 times a day.

See the wonderful change.

This is good for the initial stage only.

Get some vitamin C drops. They are similar to cough drops but work sooo much better. Just don't over do it.

easiest way . . a mixture of salt and very warm water. as salty as you can stand and as hot as you can handle. the salt will numb your throat very nicely. and i can guarantee you already have the ingredients, unless you've run out of salt. . . hope you/whoever feels better.
