well as one person said in other countries it does't work i have to disagree, because me being american and now living in a scandinavian country I have to say it works very well and there are no lazy people, no job unemployment, and the parents are older and well prepared to have children here. Mothers get a year maternity leave in full pay half a year by the employer and then the second half by the government plus an extra 3,000 every 3 months towards the child. They also monitor and keep up with parenting skills by sending nurses to the homes instead of the moms going for a quick in and out at the doctor. It's more personal and educational. So in a way i would say yes it works, but the country and government have to be set up so that it works.

If the government paid you for being a parent then they would have more control over how you raised your kids just like any other job. In some cases people do need a lot of help a lot of directions how to raise there kids. But for some of us were doing a good job and we have our own things and do not want to raise our child the way the government says.

It would be more about control then about money

No thank you! I know I am a good parent. My husband works and I stay home. We are limited and have to spend money wisely. No I would not want the money with the strings. We get by...we have a warm house, food, clothes, and lots of love! I have amazing well behaved kids. Dont need anyone changing my rules

This is a very tricky question. Because on one hand it's a way to promote good parenting by helping financially parents who want to be with their kind.

On the other hand, stupid people will sit on their lousy trailer trash *** all day and try to make a living having babies.

People with full time jobs have to do a good job to get paid. So unless a system could be put in place where only "good parents" get paid then no I don't think this is really possible.

It is a full time job, but parents should not receive a salary from the government. That is called welfare.

In Canada we get Baby Bonus once a month which is based on age of the child and income (for ex I have three kids and my husband made 55,000 last year and we get $270 a month on the 20th)

then we have a UNIVERSAL supplement that EVERYONE gets regaurdless of income you get $100 for every child under 6 ..So I get $200 again on the 20th

Then we get a check at the end of the month called the working family supplement again based on income I get $140 on the last day of the month...

Some families also get a gst cheque every 3 months again based on income (I do not get this)

No, but you get to claim children on your taxes so you can get a bigger refund at the end of the year. If you can't afford to stay home with your kids get a job where you can take your child with you. I have a nanny job and am able to take my son with me.

Some countries do this. Wouldn't work in the US as it's pretty clear that socialism isn't a good fit. Hasn't actually worked that well in other countries either, but hey, that's for them to figure out.

Keeping the government as far as possible from family life is a very good idea.

Brilliant!
The cradle to grave protection crowd will love it. Send it to the Democratic National Committee. They would be delighted to add it to their plank.

I don't want to pay for it though.
