Your Harrington & Richardson Revolver will shoot any modern 22LR,22 L,22 Short, Solid Point, Hollow Point ammunition including "Shot". CCI Manufacturing makes 22LR shot-shells that will easily fire in your revolver and they will not hurt the handgun's rifling. They are meant to be used as "Snake Shot" and are VERY effective against Snakes at close range.Remington & Winchester also make "crimped" shot shells that will also work in your gun. They only have an effective range of about 15 feet maximum and contain tiny #12 shot. They are sold in most Sporting Goods stores and Gun Shops......

Sorry JD, but I have to disagree with you about the .22 LR shotshells. They are fine for rats, and most folks call them "Rat Shot," but I would not trust one on a rattlesnake. I know lots of snakes have been killed with "Rat Shot," but when it comes to dispatching venomous snakes, I prefer .38 or .44 shotshells using 1/2 ounce or more of #9 shot to a .22 LR using 35 grains of #12 shot. I don't have to get as close.

But if you want to tackle a PO'd rattler or cottonmouth with .22 Rat Shot, help yourself and good luck. I'll back you up with a shotgun or my old .44 SPL loaded with 5/8-ounce of #9 shot.

It just popped into my head, but didn't H&R, or maybe Iver Johnson make some smoothbore .22 LR revolvers?
