like the number of step it takes to complete one rotation

It is because, inside the motor we have 4 phases of windings at 4 different positions with 90 degrees turn.These windings are placed on a ring which the whole thing is called stator. The rotor, an electromagnetic wheel with n number of teeth rotates in the stator with the induction principle. So once current is given to one of the windings in stator then switched OFF and turned the next consecutive winding ON, the rotor moves in same direction following the cycle. This takes 4 steps switching ON and OFF but rotor wheel movement depends on number of teeth it has.

Cuz it can faze either North, east, south, or west.
