Every day in Dallas, a bus loaded with Mexican deportees pulls out of a Homeland Security Department office near an interstate highway. Some days, there are two buses. It's a get-tough testament to the federal crackdown against illegal immigrants – enforcement unseen in decades in the U.S.

"We are definitely doing all we can to tackle illegal immigration," said Nuria Prendes, head of regional detention and removal operations for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Dallas since 2003.

Detention and removal operations took more than 40 percent of ICE's $4.7 billion budget last fiscal year.

And Ms. Prendes is part of a new emphasis on what the law enforcement agency calls fugitive operations – that is, the removal of illegal immigrants who have outstanding deportation or exclusion orders. In October 2006, there were nearly 624,000 persons who fit ICE's profile of a fugitive, according to federal audits done by the Office of Inspector General for the Homeland Security Department.

looks good to me. we all said remove the incentives and they will leave. here's my addition to the latest news FROM THE ARTICLE; In Massachusetts, says Fausto da Rocha, the founder of the Boston-area Brazilian Immigrant Center, his compatriots — many here illegally — are leaving by the thousands, some after losing homes in the subprime mortgage crisis. In New York and New Jersey, travel agents and others who sell airline seats say that one-way bookings to Brazil have more than doubled since last year, to about 150 daily from Kennedy International Airport, and that flights are sold out through February. And at Brazil’s consulate in Miami, which serves Brazilians in five Southeastern states, officials said a recent survey of moving companies and travel agencies confirmed what they had already surmised from their foot traffic: More Brazilians are leaving the region than arriving — the reversal of an upward curve that seemed unstoppable as recently as 2005, when Brazilians unable to meet tightened visa requirements were sneaking across the United States-Mexico border in record numbers. FULL ARTICLE ON THE LINK*** EDIT; you gotta love joe arpaio here's what he's been up to lately. FROM THE WEBSITE Now he arrests Illegal immigrants. Under a new anti-smuggling state law, Sheriff Joe is the only law enforcement offical, arresting illegal immigrants under the new law. He is building new jails to accommodate them and has 3,000 posse members who are authorized to enforce the law.*** CHECK out his video on the link.

Hey Ms. Riot,

White washing. If they were serious they would address the over three million from all over the world who jump their visas once expired, that's over 3 million ayear. Now how could the government boys do that??? Oh yea just lower the visas. It they are not allow to fly here then presto 3+* million don't need to be deported. Next why is it that they state of the 800,000+ caught in 2005, that 1 in 7 were from a terror sponsoring nation?

Once again, did they fly to Mexico or take a cruise ship? 1 in 7 is what 16%, then they state for each one caught 5 get through. Now what about the vast amount from South America?

So it seems nutty to me to deport them when you got so many others and I thought about diseases, they must be coming in from overseas as Mexico and most of the southern countries got that under control. They are like Europe and we give them meds, while they make the elderly here pay through the nose.

No they don't want ot stop it and the drug money is super big. Every wonder when there's the big news story of busting and knocking out the cartel, I think that is just soebody taking over, like the big boys. They got a much bigger problem in Dallas. I know I lived here for 9 years and whenever someone ran into my car they wre from South america or the middle east, go figure. What's the answer, simple secure the border. Tonight Pat Buchanan mentioned 6 million coming in since the demos and Bush mentioned amnesty.

You also got, not the 12 milll FLUFFY number, but now they admit 38 million. Elect me and I will settle this in a fair way and will not have to deport 60 million. It's time the businesses had to fork out some cashola, although the Repblicans and democrats are in their pockets, and that's with the Democrats touting the unions. Go figure.Rack them and stack them and be fair and charge the different countries and tell the government that we don't want to know abut the 'peter principal" we want them to do their jobs and stop all visas, pure nd simple, build a fence stop the drugs and crimes and give the criminal justice system a chance to get caught up or ELSE! Merry Christmas and all the rest. I could go to Dallas, give me a week and pick up over 1,800 people and 68% would not be from Mexico and you would really be surprised from where (maybe up to 75%). It must be done in an orderly manner and by case and this "fluff' story with a "busload" is just that.

every person could be stopped at any time by way of police or different regulation enforcement government for dashing or a bunch of alternative site visitors infractions and different criminal violations. as long as you have your suitable id, you have not got any greater concern than every person else who's legally stopped. stop whining. those state rules somewhat require state government to abide by way of federal rules, and furnish methods for dealing with people who're arrested, then have not got any suitable id, to verify immigration concerns are grew to become over to immigration government as already required by way of federal rules. stop listening to the propaganda of the unlawful extraterrestrial beings and apologists for immigration-regulation violators.

It's about time, but once again it looks like window dressing for one more run at amnesty as Bush nears the end of his rein. I am grateful for the enforcement, but why is it taunted as big deal, when protecting our borders and deporting those here illegally should be a standard operating procedure
