Depression is manifested both physically and emotionally. The classic physical signs of depression are headaches, fatigue, digestive problems, hyperactivity, sleeping disorders, loss of concentration, and distorted eating patterns.
Chemicals imbalances in the brain can also be either the cause or effect of depression. Dopamine is the chemical that produces anxiety, stress, nervousness, and aggression. When the level of dopamine is ELEVATED, a person may develop feelings of insecurity, paranoia, and fear. Serotonin is another important chemical in the brain that can affect a person's mental well-being.
A person with LOW serotonin levels displays mood swings, and some sort of compulsion, such as alcoholism, overeating, or being a workaholic, perfectionist, or procrastinator.
Best ways to beat depression is Diet, Exercise, Supplements or Therapy.
Its essential to get the B-complex vitamins, since they work together to balance proper brain functioning.
Fatty acids, such Omega-6, Omega-3.
Magnesium and herbal extracts such:
St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum in Latin) is a long-living plant with yellow flowers. It contains many chemical compounds.

Signs of depression:
1)lack of interest in things you once were very interested in (hobbies, sports, etc.)
2)crying a lot or extremely emotional (can be confused with pms :)
3)it's hard to find things to smile about and you don't laugh very often
I think you know deep down in your heart when you aren't feeling yourself. You might want to talk with a doctor and see what is going on. Talking with people can really help!! I'm sorry that you are having a hard time conceiving. Think positive thoughts and be healhy. Also, be happy for your friends. I'm sure it's very hard to be, but it's important to see the good in life and be grateful for what you have!! Good luck and much love!

I think depression can be summed up as the inability to enjoy life. It may have loss of appetite or weight gain or loss, inability to sleep or sleeping all the time, irritability, thoughts of suicide, withdrawal from friends and usual activities.
That is what comes to mind right now.

Hi there, here's a website you can try that has a sort of test you can take to judge if you have depression, anxiety, etc. It's pretty neat and it's really just a guideline to give you a general idea:

Your feelings sound situational. Maybe try working with a therapist. Talk therapy works well for situational depression, anxiety, and just plain dealing with life. If you are trying to conceive, it's a much safer route than medication.
