We don't have mail boxes here in England, we have flaps in our doors (called letter boxes). The delivery person knocks on the door for all parcels that don't fit through the flap.

It depends on the neighborhood. If it's a relatively safe neighborhood with little reported mail theft, UPS or FedEx will generally leave it by the door, as long as the sender hasn't requested a delivery signature. Usually, though, if you aren't home, the USPS will just leave a note telling you where to pick up your package, and you will have to go in to the post office to pick it up.

Depends on who the carrier is (FedEx, UPS, etc) and what the delivery instructions are. Some they'll just leave on the porch, some will require a signature and they should leave a notice of attempt to deliver. The notice should show when the next delivery attempt will be. Depending on the delivery instructions, you may be able to notify them to deliver to a different address (like a neighbor's house).

If it's a mailman delivering it, they leave a note that I missed delivery and to contact the post office (number is provided). The post office then asks you if you want the package redelivered or if you're going to pick up yourself.

Fed ex or ups sometimes just leaves the package by the door if no one's home.

depends on the carrier....you may get a note to call the PO, or UPS, Fed-Ex whatever, he may be left on the front door, back door, or with a neighbor.

It also depends on how the sender designated it. It may require a signature, or a signature only from an adult....not a teenager, for example.

I have always had it left on the porch unless the sender requires a signature.

If it needs to be signed for there will be a note in your mail box. If you don't have to sign for it then they will leave it on your doorstep.
