Is a vasectomy covered by most insurance companies in the US? BCBS PPO to be exact? Does a coinsurance apply here?

As far as I know ALL insurance companies cover vasectomies. As already stated, they are in a business to make money. So if the pay for a vasectomy, they will save themselves the cost of a delivery room and other things. When you consider the fact that a delivery room, pre and post natl care cost about 30k, and a vasectomy only cost about 1000, they are getting a great deal.

If you are considering a reversal, then don't. Reversals are a scam, and they are NOT covered by insurance.

Vasectomy is almost always covered 100%. A vasectomy is a bargain for the insurance company. They are in business to make money.

I work in the health insurance biz and most plans do have coverage for vasectomy but your exact coverages vary by plan. If you have you Evidence of Coverage booklet given to you by the plan it should be under Family Planning. If not you could try going directly to your insurance's website and try logging in and most have basic benefits available to you as long as you log in.

Only if because it is part of another medically necessary procedure that is covered. Otherwise NO insurance company pays for ANY elective surgeries.
