You'll need to go to a professional stylist. The price and time it takes depends on the amount of touch-ups you did. My hair was black for about a year and a half, and my stylist used a color stripping treatment. The hair was completely destroyed after I dyed it, and he had to strip the color twice, then match my natural color of the roots. He also did some moisturizing treatment. The process was about $100. (Though he charged before he did it. He had to find another container of color stripper, which would have been more expensive) It also took about two hours. It's expensive and I miss the black hair, but for healthy hair it's worth it. Good luck!

You have two options here. Either you can bleach it out or you can wait until the black grows out a little more and then have it cut off. Meantime, stop dyeing it so you can be sure where the unwanted black part really is. It can be hard to find especially if you're using a dark brown dye. You might want to consult a beautician/hairdresser about your concern to get a professional opinion.

You might have to use a color stripper....like Color Oops. I got mine at CVS. I just had to do this yesterday...I had the same problem. I was a little uneasy to do it at first, but it turned out fine. It will turn your hair a bit orange, so don't freak out. You can color it right after you do this any color you choose. But make sure you pick a color that is lighter than you actually want. You hair will be really porous and will soak up the color.

Once you have died your hair black it's hard to put a lighter color on top of color. You'll pretty much have to bleach it to get it a little lighter or hope it will eventually wash out a little. Good luck ;)
