Try washing his bedding. Bathe your cat with some neem pet shampoo. Also try some ark naturals neem protectant spray. Spray the bedding.
Just to add that your basement maybe cooler and they may be less fleas down there.

The cat knows what it is doing. Maybe its colder or more moist there and the fleas settle down a bit.
You HAVE to get the drops (fom a vet supply or the Internet) that go on the back of the cat's neck. All other brands, and flea collars and powders DO NOT work. If you keep the drops on the back of your cats neck, he will become a death trap for fleas. You will interrupt their life cycle, and in a month or so, the cat's environment will be free of fleas and you won't have infestations.

Cats will try to hide when they are unhappy or uncomfortable or even sick. Fleas can be a huge problem and can cause health problems. You can get Advantage at your local vets office for about 10-12 dollars a dose. This goes onto the cat between his shoulder blades and it will kill all of the fleas, starting as soon as you apply it practically. It works great and your cat will love you for it. You can also treat his bedding or areas that he frequents with a good flea spray...just make sure that the label says it kills larvae and eggs as well as adult fleas. After the fleas are gone, your kitty will go back to his old ways and all will be well. One thing I would like to add...you may want to have your cat treated for tapeworms as fleas are the carriers of this parasite. It is almost certain that he will have them and they wont go away on their own. Good luck!

Go to the SPCA and pick up a product called Siphatrol. It's a spray for their bedding and cracks and crevices of your home, so the cycle of flea reproduction is halted. Three days and you and your cat will be flea free for about 9 months. It's about $15 a bottle which covers about 1500 sq ft.
BTW, this product is non toxic to humans and pets. It's a hormone that causes the flea to age to death in three days and stop the cycles at their other phases.
It's much more lasting, effective and not damaging to mammals. Kills silverfish too.

I don't think it has anything to do with fleas, I think your cat just likes the basement! They can change behaviour you know, like us - doesn't sound like anything to worry about! The fleas on the other hand - get proper flea treatments from a vet, don't use store-bought stuff like powders because it doesn't work.

you may desire to take your cats to the vet to get drops for the fleas. Secondly, hair loss could properly be brought about by using a flea hypersensitive reaction in cats, and no that may not usual, so as that ought to be appeared at too. i could have theory that having a small baby crawling on the floor could be extra reason to spray the carpet, no longer much less - you may continually save her off the floor for an afternoon or 2 on an identical time because it takes effect. I honestly does no longer desire a small baby of mine crawling on a flea-infested carpet.

flea powder and flea collars are worthless, they last for a few days, thats about it. get some revolution from the vet, cost ten bucks a tube, but will eliminate the vermin, plus get rid of ear mites, and certain worms. as far as the basement, maybe your cat just likes the seclusion, or maybe you have a mouse or two down there.
