Any Air Force base is very nice.
Compared to Army, Navy and Marine bases, the Air Force bases are very young (no more than 60 years old today -- Happy Birthday Air Force!)
The Air Force is also know as the service that takes the best care of its people and their families. You will find the bases and facilities very nice.

basically because you've that dream sheet would not propose he's certain to bypass there. it will be some position completely diverse, which includes unaccompanied orders to an distant places area the position dependents are not any more allowed for as a lot as 2 years. in case you get OCONUS places then you honestly've got to undergo a medical & dental screening first and maximum suitable before getting command sponsorship. Housing varies from area to area. AF although is frequently the finished in housing. some housing is now PPV - Privatized and different remains run by ability of the AF. they comprise a refrigerator, range, & dishwasher, on occasion a microwave and/or washer/dryer is presented yet frequently in basic terms at OCONUS places. once he has the orders (after Tech college) then he can contact the bottom housing for the position you're going and get advice from them. you may wait a number of months to get into housing once you get there and through that element you should discover your man or woman condo. you may also opt to stay out on the city and infrequently this is better efficient because you'll discover an area this is more low priced than the BAH and hence pocket the leftover.

Housing on Eglin in FL SUCKS. We lived there for 3 years and I hated it. They were all built in 1941 and not kept up very well. Palmetto bugs could get in easily, the counter tops and linoleum floors were hard to keep clean. Unless you live in the housing that is off-base for families with 3 or more children, I would not recommend base housing there.
That being said, they have already started tearing down some of the old housing, and have plans for privatization, but it will probably take several years until it's completed.

I am going to give it to you straight. If this is your first base you will more than likely not get base housing. Instead, you will get a food allowance, housing allowance, utility allowance & some other things. Then, He will find a house or apartment for you to live in just like you do now. If you are a officer or nco you can get on a list for base housing. When your number is up they will call you. All housing I have stayed in on Air Force bases have been spotless; well taken care of. If you get base housing, be happy your Air Force. First, all bills are paid for. (gas, water, electric, & garbage) The only bills you will have are the ones you bring with you. You will also be able to rent any equipment you would ever like to use for pennys. On some weekends I could rent a trailor and a canoe & stay out on a lake for under $40.

Well, a lot of bases are building new houses. It all depends on your husband's rank. Some bases have very old enlisted housing that they are now replacing with very nice, new places. Some have brand new officer housing. So, if you can add in your husband's rank, that would help you get a good answer.

there is NO guarantee that you will get base housing, especially as a first termer. the waiting list for Junior enlisted can be a up to 2 years long. and you won;t get much of a choice.. you take what they offer you, period.
