Okay so heres the deal, i got mine on yesterday morning. I actualy enjoyed having them put on becuase i was missing math and my dentists were very entertaining. It dosnt hurt at all while they are putting them on. I went hom went to school for a few hours and about 3 hours later they started to hurt. Last night was pretty painful, and i cant eat anything solid right now (just smoothies, ice cream..exc) cos it manly hurts when you are chewing. My mouth is in a little pain right now but im not crying or anything. According to my friends it should hurt for about a week and then it will be better. It is not unberable pain but still it hurts. Oh and use the wax they give you it helps alot until your mouth has had time to toughen up.
it hurts alot for the first week because thats when alot of the mouvement happens. After a day and a bit i can already see a difference. Dont worry about it though you will do fine.

I got braces on about 3 months ago. While they were putting it on, it didn't hurt at all for me. I'm not sure what they do because it's not like I could watch what they were doing. But from what I felt, they first put on these metal square thingies on top of each tooth, and then they put this light on it to make it stick, I guess. Then they put the wire on top and twist it in and it's done! When I got home, I felt fine.. but the next day.. IT HURT SO BAD. It wasn't like, a horrible pain or anything but it was really sore! It felt like like I had tooth aches in every single tooth. Every time I bit down, it hurt. But after two weeks, I was fine. Tightenings will also make you sore, but the pain isn't going to last too long..

Ive had braces done before, the process wasn't painful at all but its the AFTER process that hurt coz of the braces they put on your teeth and there'll be discomfort. So you can only take soft foods for 2 weeks or so until your mouth get used to it. But dont worry, it isn't as bad as you think, its just the beginning thats abit painful but you'll have a set of beautiful teeth thereafter. No Pain No Gain, honey !

Did and done my braces. Turned out pretty well....
Does braces hurt? Yes, it hurts. First week I couldn't eat anything, except porridge and ice-cream and soup. It hurts like hell. And the tightening too. The pain usually lasts for 2,3 days.
But overall? It wasn't that bad.
Some people find it very hard to deal with the cuts at the gums and lips.
But seriously? I haven't had any at all. The pain to me was kinda itchy...
Well, no pain no gain. All the best!

My daughter, who wore braces, said that they really hurt. They hurt when they were first put on and then the pain subsided after a few days. After that, each time she had to go to the orthodontist, her teeth would hurt for a few days afterwards when her braces were tightened.

It hurts for some, from what my friend told me is that ceramic braces are less likely to hurt than metal braces. The process shouldn't really hurt.

Braces really don't hurt that bad while they're putting them on. There might be a bit of discomfort but it's not too bad.
The only thing that hurt for me were the brackets that go on your molars. It might not hurt for you though....It might've just been my teeth and my pain tolerance.
And don't let Shorty scare you.

My sis says it hurts when you get them on. They don't hurt that bad, but of course they'll hurt. I guess you'll just have to wait and see.
I suggest some pain killers if they hurt really bad. Once you get them on, I'm guessing it'll hurt time to time.
