Think of it this way.
If someone were to walk up to you and tell you that five miles down the street is a -GIANT- pile of money. You now have two options.
You can blindly believe your friend, or you can challange him by using free will (To believe or not to believe).
If you believe your friend, you are believeing that he is telling the truth.
If you do not believe, you are taking in logic and choosing not to believe because you have no prior knowledge or proof.
When I die and god does exist, why should I be punished for a "gift" he gave me? I am choosing not to believe in the bag of money (god) because I have no prior evidence or proof that the money exists down the road. Unlike the money, I can't simply go down the road and see if its truly there.
Give a young child a toy and tell him not to play with it. If he plays with it anyway, punish him.
That's what god punishing people for free will is doing. Shame on him/her/it.

Im glad youre asking this question, it seems like youre starting to see some of the stumbling blocks that are reached when talking about God and Free Will. At first it seems almost mean that God would set up this trial earth just to see which one of us are more holy, and then cast many down into hell while a few went to Heaven instead of just briniging us all up there. Regardless, God simply cannot be all knowing (omniscient) and all powerful, or omniscient and in support of free will.
If God is all powerful and all knowing, then god has the power to change the future to something he doesnt know. Because he has this power to make things he does not know, then he cannot be "all knowing". Similarly, we cannot have free will if he already knows everything we are going to do. We are predestined to Heaven or Hell from birth, because he already knows where were going to end up. God simply cannot grant us both- this is something most Christians have never thought about. Free will by your God is a lie- the contradictions just cannot be reconciled.

I personally believe it's all a load of b.s.
I mean I understand how some people can believe that kind of stuff, but really, if God made us with free will, why would he when he knows we have the possibility of going to a place such as hell? why would he let such a thing happen? Its like we "abuse" our free will somehow or something in a way he wouldn't appreciate and we are sent to hell for eternity, ETERNITY. A little bit of an absurd thought, is it not? I cannot believe also how people may say God doesn't judge how much sin someone has, its all measured in the same amount. The bible and many other believers in Christ will say it is the same to commit adultery as to look at a women and dream/fantasize about having sexual intercourse with her. To me and Im guessing many others that means why not go have sex with her then? What's the difference? I COULD GO ON AND ON, so if you would like to discuss some of these topics with me, feel free. my aim sn is: BxR PanKaKe

Though man has the free will, however its bondage to sin. Man, by his fall into a state of sin, had wholly lost all ability of will to do any spiritual good accompanying salvation.
God has predestined all things before the foundation of the world. And, His eternal decree is not conditioned by any act of human will.
Though man has free will to choose good or evil, man always chooses what God has predestined.
Judah Iscariot exercised his free will by betraying Jesus to the cross; nevertheless, Judah by his (free will) action fulfilled what God had predestined before the foundation of world; “Jesus the Lamb of God slain before the foundation of world.”

well from my understanding, God's greatest gift is free will. He gave this gift because he didn't want to force people to love him, no he wanted it to be real love, so we are able to decide if we want to love him or not. He doesn't know we are going to hell...he never compares any of us to one another so that rules out the example thing, and he is perfect, and he knows everything...but he gives us trust that we will make the right decisions as humans. So bottom line, God knows all and he has a predestined plan for us, but if we take him up on his offer is totally up to us. i'm not sure if i'm right, I don't think there's a right and wrong when talking about relgion, but that's what I believe anyway. Good Luck =]. Ask a preist if you really need a clkear answer. I'm sure he'll want to answer for you.

-Humanity has sinned but God but that all in the past and gave us a new chance. God sent his son, Jesus, to die on the cross for us and clear us of our sins so we could join him in heaven.
-We all have the choice to follow God, keep his commandments and go to heaven. Those who chose not to follow Him and continue to sin and do evil go to Hell.
-God knows everything and he could just make it that all human kind is perfect and goes to heaven but he gives US the choice. The choice to show faith.

yes, you are given the choice to do as you wish. but God created us and determines our fate. He tells us what it takes to get to heaven so if you want to go there do as He asks. Should people who believe heaven doesnt even exist really go there? God is our father and disowning Him IS your choice to make. In fact, we had a choice in the Garden of Eden but we ultimately faled and now we rely on our own instinct and get to decide what we want to believe. God does not provoke it. Many propse that if God REALLY cared about us going to heaven thaen He would have given us a more definitive sign. But He has. He gave His Son! And nd many argue that He would have immediately put it in our heads to believe but then we would have no choice. and if that's what people want then man should not have bitten into that fruit.

God lets man kind choose but give us a way out by Jesus coming to earth to walk in the flesh and be tempted like we are and even so was sinless and took all our sins on him so that we can be saved.God didn`t intend for us to die remember Adam and Eve were not forbidden to eat of the tree of life only the tree of knowledge. When they sinned then they were removed because if they did take of that tree then we would live for ever.It was a punishment for disobeying God who created us for his pleasure, not ours. But he loves us and doesn`t want anyone to die unsaved.

According to the bible, and mentioned in several places, "god" expressly DID NOT give the right of "free will". "God" made this perfectly clear, and in no uncertain terms. But the fundies, ever eager to make the bible say what they want it to say, have dreamed up this gift of "free will." They needed this concept to explain the reason why "god" no longer does anything to wicked, or non-believing people. (Of course we know why this is). So when "god" no longer "smites", punishes, or kills anyone, the fundies say that "god' gave the right of "free will" to do as they please. It's pretty pathetic stuff.
