i have an essay that says that jackson sent in 5000 stnads of muskets...WHAT DOES THIS MEAN!!

A stand of muskets refers the way muskets were stacked by soldiers in the field. They could not leave them lying on the ground, so three muskets would be set together in a standing triangle.

Most likely 5000 soldiers or 5000 guns

Must be a mistake. An infantry stand was 1500 to 3,500 men. I doubt Jackson had a 17.5 million man army.

Maybe you meant that there were 5,000 men in the stand?
