Well I am 16 years old and have a 1 year old sibling. He likes stuff like little people farm and those furry animal books. Also he enjoys a bouncer, a lot. Anything that is safe and has a good and well known brand, will probally do. Cars are also good.

I would go easy this year.. next year and form then on out is when you will be spending the big bucks. I'd go with the soft books and things like that. Nothing to expensive, theres no point in it.
Oh and as the person already stated,.. YES watch out when getting toys made in China...

Push toys are fun. You could get a walker, mower, shopping cart, baby stroller, or a popper. We also like the Fisher Price Little People.

I did a blog entry on this topic. (My grandson is turning 1) It might be helpful. The 2nd link is to a toy I found after I wrote the blog - my grandson has something similar and loves it.

We liked the "airtivity" toy from playskool. Mine even still play with it at 2 and 3.
