If it's still in your name it's still your car. If he wrecks it while it's in your name, you're responsible for any damages too. If you can't find him and get it back I'd say report it stolen. At least that way, if he wrecks it you may be clear.

What a grand mistake you made. You could not legally do what you did. The car was not yours to sell...contract with your friend or not. If you can get the car back fine. You are and always have been responsible for the payments. Not all the blame for this mess lies with your friend.

As long as the car is in your name ... I believe so.

Had a gf who sold her car to her bf, he moved out of state and didn't make the payments on the car or the insurance. She had to report the car and explain at the police station. She didn't even have an address for him. They eventually found it after he had an accident, and we drove down to pick it up. Hope that helps.

Good luck ...

If you don't take it back and catch up on those payments, the bank will take it back and I don't think you want this repo on your credit.

YES YOU CAN AND SINCE THAT PERSON IS MESSING WITH YOU NOW YOU CAN MESS WITH THEM AND CALL THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND GET IT BACK WITHOUT ANY HASSLES.
