Do you think my doctor will prescribe me tretinoin even though my acne isn't that severe. I don't have a lot of pimples, but just little bumps every here and there. I've been prescribed tretinoin before, but that was last year when I had REALLY REALLY bad acne.
I want to use it again just to prevent acne. I also want to use it to treat my discolored skin and discolored laugh lines(it's darker than the rest of my face probably due to sun damage)
Also are there any side effects to tretinoin because I read on a site that some doctors may be hesitant to prescribe tretinoin because of its side effects.

Your doctor is most likely to start prescibing something much simpler - probably an antibiotic such as Doxycycline.
You might be able to make a case to your doctor because you have previously been on it and tolerated the effects well.
