Since costochondritis is inflammation of the joints, I would suggest an anti-inflammatory pain reliever such as Ibuprofen. Additionally, you can also try applying heat to the area with a the heating pad or such. Don't use the heating pad directly on your skin. And, you may find that gently stretching the pectoral muscules (chest muscles) may help.

for cases that arent responding to time and oral meds..you can try cortisone and lidocaine injections..
