I had really thick hair too but now you wouldnt even know! I got lots of layers and thinned it out like alot! and i love it! A good length is like mid back in the back and like below the shoulder in the front..

my hair is extremely thick also. I had my stylist give me the angled bob cut recently. She cut with a straight edge razor - that helps it hold so much better than if they use scissors/shears. After that, she did thin it out a lot - but the thinning is invisible. use some good styling products, and you'll look great. My bob is below chin length in the front - not too short.

Gurl,
the very straight, piece-y, razor-cut style would remove a lot of the weight of your hair, have you looking very stylish, and doesn't have to be kept up more than a couple times of year. Find a salon that does avant gard (cutting edge) work and you'll find a place that can help you stay in style and help you solve your hair challenges over the years.

What I do is get it cut about shoulder length in layers and thinned just a little bit

is it thick or curly?

if its curly, I think long looks hot... like kerri russell's old do? you can do so much with it - stack it up in a messy pile, but straighten the whisps at the front so it doesn't look like a bird's nest!

if its straight, you can do ANYTHING! I like shortish (as in just above the shoulder) with some layers and the front swept across your forehead.
