I was thinking about doing college ROTC then doing BUDS. But what do you do when you enter the SEALS as an officer straght out of ROTC. I have seen programs with the Seals on them but they all seem to always be enlisted men, what do the officers do?

I know people do their is a program at a A&M called Seal platoon that prepares you for the Seals 98% of the people that join and stick with it, become Seals the main reason the other 2% don't make it is because of medical problems during BUDS (brokes a bone, sick, exp.)

If you're a lower grade officer, you can get into BUDs and and SEAl program with relative ease. Also, becoming a Seal, or at least getting into the training program comes next to none, you can go directly into a Navy recruting office and tell the squid recruiter that you want the BUDS program. As far as training, you'll train directly with enlisted men, you're all the same in the SEAl program, regardless of what you've done prior in the US NAVY. Good luck, I've got a buddy who was a Corpsman working with the Marine Corps, he went to BUDS and told me it was horrible...I don't even know if he made it through yet....good luck

First off, are you the type willing to risk your life with the chance that when caught your own government will claim they had nothing to do with your actions? Trust me that's the first requirement of a commando type person. If you have any feelings against doing that, go join a regular outfit and leave the commando jobs to commando type people. In the SEALS everyone is there. They wear no rank because when caught the one with the officer's rank is shot immediately before they begin to use that example to make the enlisted talk. It's no picnic. You can not discuss, talk about or even hint on any mission or project you have done, will do or are doing for the rest of your life. Most of the education you get will never qualify for "military experience towards college and can not be shown on a resume" because most of the training is so classified even President Bush does not know.

It's almost impossible. If you want to be a SEAL, the best thing do is enlist and become a SEAL. Then go through office selection. Officers in the SEALs do pretty much the same thing as the enlistedmen.

The E in E-4 stands for enlisted. Upon commissioning after graduation you will become a second lieutenant which is an O-1. Being an officer and enlisted are all different and all officers are higher ranking then enlisted personnel. As for getting into Airborne school and Ranger school, do well in school and work out lots to get a high PT score.
