HELL NO!!! You don't ever give the receipt. The recipient should be grateful that someone thought of them as someone special to receive a gift at all.

In your case, a gift receipt isn't needed.
I would only include a gift receipt with
-clothing (because they may not fit)
-gifts on the more expensive side (no point in spending $100 dollars on a gift they'll never use when they could just return it to get something they'd like)
-or when I'm afraid that someone else might have given them the same gift (like when there's a wedding with a gift registry- with so many gifts there may be more than one blender in the mix and I'd want them to be able to return mine if they got a better one.).

I don't ever expect a gift from anyone. Gifts aren't mandatory, they are extras! Even on my birthday, I don't expect a bunch of gifts. Simply because I think that takes away the special feeling of getting gifts and it's just not very polite. People don't always have perfect financial situations and may not be able to afford a gift, so it's better not to expect anything and be appreciative if they do give a gift. As far as returning gifts go, if they gave me a receipt, then they obviously want me to return it if it doesn't fit or I don't have use for it. They want you to enjoy the gift, and if that means exchanging it, than so be it. I don't get mad about homemade gifts. Because of my large family, I usually bake gifts for everyone to avoid trying to buy a gift for them that they may return anyways.

No way! Include a gift exchange card if a store offers it (on this they generally don't add the total price). But, otherwise, when you give the gift, just say politely to one side later that if it doesn't fit etc that you have the receipt. Then they can take it if they want it.

I usually on do with clothes, since it's sometimes hard to know sizes.
It sounds like you have a cute gift for your friend's daughter!
Sometimes with fun things like you're talking about, if she should happen to get duplicates, it's always an option for her mother to save one back and use it for a gift for another child. If the nature of your friendship is that you can say "I have a gift receipt, if you need it," and if you would not be offended if she took you up on the offer, it's just a thoughtful thing for you to do, maybe?
Hope that helps.

I'd have the gift receipt in an envelope and as I was leaving, I would offer it to the mom and say, "Oh, here's the gift receipt for Susie's gift, just in case she receives another one." Then it's up to the mom whether or not it's needed.

I always include a gift receipt, just because if they don't like my gift it gives them the chance to exchange it for something they do want. I have always hated being stuck with gifts that I don't like or simply don't need. Its wasteful. Thought does count, but I think if you're going to spend money on someone you should get them something you know they want or give them a receipt to be safe.

No. If they request a receipt for the purpose of exchange or return, then you can always have that in your purse or pocket ready.
Otherwise, no, do not include it in your gift.

Of course not! Just the gift, mind you. Inclusion of the receipt would be like you're asking for a reimbursement or, you're trying to show your friend how much you spent for the gift and it is really unethical.

Not since it isn't clothes. The chances of someone getting the same gift is slim and if they do then let them take their's back.
