I am wondering what was the most helpful method of quitting (nicotine gum, patches, etc). I really want to try and quit but I am apprehensive of using only willpower. =)

I quit using the nicotine inhaler and I've been a none smoker for over two years now.

My mom, who smoked for over 30 years recently quit about six months ago, again, with the help of the nicotine inhaler.

Find something that works for you because i tried the gum and patches before deciding the inhaler helped take the edge of my craving most.

See you're doctor or discuss it with you're pharmacist, who will be able to give much better advice.

Good luck and hope you succeed.

im sorry im not a smoker and never was but i've been around alot of people who has including my boyfriend right now, he's in the same spot as you and i really want him to quit too, he tells me he really wants to but it seems he doesnt cause he doesnt even try. I even tell him "you'll lose me if you dont quit sooner or later" and he still continues to. Anyways, i grew up living with a smoker in my house for nearly 12 years. my mom's boyfriend was a smoke addict and still is. Well i had a couple of friends who were smokers and then they had there babies, so they tried the patch and it worked miracles for them. so im suggesting the patch. I cant really tell cause everyone is different but i heard that is one of the best options to go by. hope it helped! P.S. If you do quit. let me know how you did it. thanx!

My mother finally stopped after 40 yrs of smoking. She did the patch & gum thing,

She actually decided to go cold turkey the last time. She said those patches & gums are really bad because they still provide the nicotene into the blood stream. Plus it was too expensive for her to buy the steps after awhile.

I am so proud of my mom its been 9 months since she stopped.

Nicotin gum or nicotin patch works only if you get arrested, the police handcuffs you, but you ask them to keep that handcuff on you for 2 weeks or more.

I am not a smoker myself but since I am dating someone who is working on quitting I can tell you that first of all you have to be truly ready or it won't work in the long term. As far as the best method, different things work for differnet people. Maybe ask your doctor about chantix?

quiting is easy......I quit 6 or 7 times until it finally took. Just try to cut down....and down.....and down. Then only smoke at unusual times for a while. Then try to only have 1 or 2 a day......then......just stop!

Just do it, avoid temptation. Don't do the things you would usually do when you smoke. Most importantly pull out the list of things to do that you have!! Keeping busy will keep your mind off of it.
