Walk your dog at least once a day for at least 1/2 hour.
Give the dog something to do during playtime...fetching and such.
Be sure to spend a minimum of 15 minutes a day working on obedience issues such as come, sit, stay, etc.
Never reinforce bad behavior with positive attention...don't pet the dog for sitting still right after he was being "naughty" with company...it just tells him that's how to get attention. The best way to keep him calm is to give him a firm no and ignore him when his behaviors get bad...if he jumps on you, turn your back and walk away...your body language alone can let him know that his jumping, nipping, or whatever it is he is doing is disgusting you. I never reprimand behaviors like jumping with more than a no, but I do kind of make a "show" of how disappointed I am that the behavior occured (by acting something like "ugh...I can't even LOOK at you".

GSP's are naturally very active dogs, as most hunting breeds are, and you'll need to provide lots of exercise and stimulation. Don't forget to train the guests, as well. Let them ALL know that you don't want them encouraging the bad behavior by letting the dog jump on them...let your guest know that you are working on training, and ask for their compliance with your methods.

Good luck!

Good luck with that because that breed is always hyper active. Never met one that wasn't. The best way to get a dog to be calm is give it plenty of exercise.

By playing with her and having the guests play with her. This is the perfect age to turn this fear into security.
