Apathy

2007-12-03 13:24:24 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 2 1

The absolute unawareness of what is written in the Constitution. Less than one in five adult Americans has ever read the document. So, as a result, they have no idea how the three branches of the Federal government work and what the powers given to those three branches are.
This is especially evident when it comes to the job of President. Although the duties of that office are clearly spelled out in Article Two of the Constitution we have been carefully conditioned since the Spring of 1933 to look on the President as some sort of "Federal Wizard King".
Liberty can only be preserved through active citizenship. And the citizens of this nation are about as active as a comatose turtle!

Apathy, non participation in the primaries or elections and electing candidates who vote the party and not that of their constituents(. Legislators who do not do their jobs) A prime example is immigration. The Dems dropped the ball like a hot potato. Border protection Dominici doesn't vote for the fence. Too many" mexes" in New Mexico. Might offend the illegals. Isn't amazing that every one has rights ecxept the legal citizens who are footing the bills. Crappy run cities like New Haven, CT and New York City become sanctuary cities supporting illegals with American tax dollars.
