M younger cousin who is almost 8, has been stealing my stuff. She is like my little sister she comes to my house every day because we baby-sit her while her mother is at work., we are very close. Well about 4 times now I have either seen one of my things at her house or I have caught her with something in her bag. She thinks just because she likes it she can take it. I am afraid this might ruin our relationship? What can I do to make her quit?

My mom, my aunt and I have talked to her about this, but she just wont quit. And her mother is no help at all she just says not to do it again.

You might have to start hiding your stuff or put a lock on your bedroom door. Hide the temptation and she might stop taking stuff.

Time to hit the hardware store and get a keyed lock on your bedroom door... and use it!

Your cousin is obviously acting out on something. Stealing is one of those behaviors that is an obvoius cry for help. Once you have secured your stuff, have a talk with her about what is really going on.
Maybe pop by a book store and pick up a book by T. Berry Brazelton... lot of good information.

You will have to start locking your bedroom door and any other door that might have things in it that she can take.

Perhaps threaten that you will not be able to babysit for her anymore unless she stops because she is doing something very bad, stealing.

Best of luck.

Go to her house and take some of her favorite things, leave them were she can see them, when she confronts you with her goods you can then talk to her about respect and trust, see if it works if not every time you see something of yours at her house take something of hers, eventually it will sink in
